From the Desk of the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the State of Emergency, as called by Governor Andy Beshear, Boone County Schools will be implementing NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) in accordance with KRS 158.070 (9). Starting Monday March 16th up to Monday April 20th instruction will be delivered for all students during the day while at home.  However, if the State of Emergency is lifted before April 20th we may resume classes.

Your child is required to be at school tomorrow Thursday March 12th and will be receiving instructions from their teachers and principals. Detailed information for parents regarding NTI will be forthcoming.

For students receiving free and reduced lunches, the school cafeterias will remain open to provide breakfasts and lunches for take-out. Parent/Guardians will need to call the school cafeteria to place a request for a breakfast or lunch. School cafeteria phone numbers may be found under FAQ’s on the district’s website.

As far as questions about planned school events, trips and sporting events you will need to contact your school’s office about whether or not those events have been cancelled.

We are taking these measures after Governor Beshear declared a State of Emergency in Kentucky and in accordance with the guidelines put out by the Northern Kentucky Health Department.  Non-Traditional Instruction
and event cancellations are being done out of an abundance of caution and to
help stem the tide of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Your child’s health and
safety are our first priority.

Sincerely,

Randy J. Poe, Ed.D

Superintendent of Schools

Boone County Schools Non-Traditional Instructional (NTI) School Day

Information Sheet

What is a Non-Traditional Instructional (NTI) School Plan?

This very detailed plan outlines how instruction will be delivered for ALL students during a day when school is not open due to unforeseen circumstances. The plan gives teachers the opportunity to refine their online presence for content delivery and provides hard copy content for those students that may not have access to technology or network resources. The planned result is less loss in instruction time and increased ability to learn new content when school is back in session.

Instructional Delivery Model:

Both digital and hard-copy content will be available for students on Non-Traditional Instructional Days.

K-2 Paper/Pencil

3-12 Digital Learning (Tools such as Edgenuity, Canvas, Google Classroom, Summit Learning, Dreambox, Lexia, Reading Plus, Rosetta Stone etc.)

Preparation:

Teachers are providing opportunities for students to access content digitally and flip lessons.

When:

The plan will be in force during the dates of  Monday March 16th through Monday April 20th, unless the Governor releases the KY State of Emergency before this date

Content:

Instructions for accessing digital content will be provided by your child’s teachers.  Hard Copy packets may also be made available.

Communications:

An All-Call will be made to all parents, students and staff announcing Non-Traditional Instructional Days as well as both district and school media outlets.

Accountability:

Students will be required to complete all tasks assigned during a non-traditional instruction day.

Extended time and/or other supports will be available for those circumstances whereby the work could not be completed due to extenuating circumstances.

Availability:

Teachers are required to maintain a minimum of an online presence during the regular school day. Parents or students can also either email or call the school and leave a message with the teacher or administration.

Questions?

Contact your child’s teacher or school administration.
